This is the second book of the Darkest Powers series (First one is the Summoning). And it is the continuation of Chloe Saunders’s story after her escape from Lyle House. Chloe, Tori and Rae are caught by the Edison Group-the people who “created” them. After her aunt’s betrayal, Chloe needs a plan to get out of the hospital they lock them in and find Simon and Derek. Tori and Chloe realise that the Edison Group wants to kill them so, together with Derek and Simon; they go on the run once again after the girls give their enemies false information about the whereabouts of the boys. With the help of her dead friend Liz, Derek’s super werewolf senses and Simon and Tori’s spells, they manage to stay alive and escape their pursuers. They need to find someone to help them but can they trust anyone?
Suspense, mystery, and a sub-plot of romance make up this amazing book. Armstrong makes it impossible to set her books down, and this one is no exception. The Awakening is filled with fast-moving action and it’s fueled by supernatural gifts that surprise and entertain. Anyone who has read the first one did not wait to get their hands on this one as well, I am sure! Definitely worth reading!
